The first clip has been unveiled from upcoming monster sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which will find the giant lizard facing off against a number of other monsters.
Directed and co-written by Michael Dougherty, known for Trick ‘r Treat and Krampus, the next chapter in the franchise will feature a cast that includes Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, and Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. The latter appears in the first clip released from the film. It’s only a small taste, but it does intrigue. She’s seen attempting to contact Monarch. The call doesn’t go too well.
Monarch, for those wondering, is the scientific organisation created to study and hunt “massive unidentified terrestrial organisms.” The secret group was introduced in 2014’s Godzilla and then played a bigger part in 2017’s Kong: Skull Island.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters, with Godzilla taking on Mothra, Rodan, and the three-headed King Ghidorah, is scheduled to hit Aus cinemas on 30 May 2019 and US cinemas on 31 May 2019.
Synopsis for Godzilla: King of the Monsters:
The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
