‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ TV Spot Teases an Epic Creature Showdown

Warner Bros.

Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah will soon be shaking cinemas.

Take a look at an exciting new TV spot released for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which finds the crypto-zoological agency Monarch going up a number of massive monsters, including Godzilla. We’ll see if that big lizard is our saviour again.

So far, this has been looking gorgeous. The monster mayhem, the creature designs, and the overall aesthetic has us well and truly pumped. While I thought 2014’s Godzilla was decent, with a strong focus on mood, it dragged the whole ‘teasing the monster’ thing too far. Kong: Skull Island was a good time, embracing old-school monster fun and gleefully thrusting creatures at the screen. Let’s hope for an on-point combo of the two films’ styles here.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters, featuring an impressive cast that includes Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, Aisha Hinds, O’Shea Jackson Jr., David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, and Zhang Ziyi, arrives in Australia on May 30 and hits US cinemas on May 31.

Official synopsis for Godzilla: King of the Monsters:

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
