‘Hacks’ Season 4 Trailer Has Deborah and Ava on a High-Stakes Comeback—Premiere Date Revealed

Deborah Vance is heading back to late night! Max has unveiled the official trailer for Hacks season 4, alongside an official premiere date for the Emmy-winning comedy’s return.

The upcoming season finds Deborah (Jean Smart) and her long-suffering writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder) tackling their biggest challenge yet: getting their own late-night talk show off the ground. The trailer teases rising tensions between the two, as their professional ambitions once again threaten to derail their personal dynamic. “Well, aren’t you a big brave girl?” Deborah tells Ava in one scene. “I guess I am,” Ava fires back. The tone is business as usual for the sharp-tongued comedy, but the stakes have never been higher.

The official logline promises that the duo will “endeavor to get their late-night show off the ground and make history doing it”—though, by the looks of things, it may not be smooth sailing.

In addition to Smart and Einbinder, returning cast members include Paul W. Downs (who also co-created and showruns the series alongside Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky), Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Mark Indelicato, and Rose Abdoo. New guest stars for season 4 include Julianne Nicholson, Michaela Watkins, Bresha Webb, and Eric Balfour.

Max has confirmed a 10 April 2025 premiere date for the new season. Two episodes will drop on day one, followed by weekly episodes through to the two-part finale on 29 May. Australian audiences will also see the season arrive on Max, which will launch in the country on 31 March. The arrival of the streaming service will mean the loss of HBO and Max titles from Aussie streamer Binge.
