The official trailer for Half Man has arrived, giving viewers a first look at the new drama from Baby Reindeer creator and star Richard Gadd. Watch the trailer above, then read on for more on the series.
The Trailer Sets Up a Fractured Brotherhood Across Two Timelines
This one looks pretty grim in the best way. The trailer opens on Niall’s wedding day, where Ruben stands to make a speech and almost instantly throws the mood off. From there, it cuts between the present and the brothers’ younger years, sketching out a relationship shaped by tension, instability, and violence.

As per the official synopsis, the six-part series follows two men who are “not related in blood but the closest you can get.”
Gadd plays adult Ruben, with Jamie Bell as adult Niall, while Stuart Campbell and Mitchell Robertson play the younger versions of Ruben and Niall. The footage teases key moments across both timelines, including confrontations, police involvement, prison, and a car crash. It all suggests things have been heading sideways since day one, and now it’s about to hit boiling point.
Richard Gadd Creates, Writes and Stars in the Series
Half Man marks Gadd’s return to television following the success of Baby Reindeer, with Gadd serving as creator, writer, executive producer, and star. Whereas Baby Reindeer tackled trauma, sexual assault, and validation, among other themes, this new series turns its focus to brotherhood, violence, and the fragility of male relationships over three decades.
Alongside Gadd and Bell, the cast includes Neve McIntosh, Marianne McIvor, Charlie De Melo, Bilal Hasna, Julie Cullen, Amy Manson, Anjli Mohindra, Tim Downie, Tom Andrews, Philippine Velge, Stuart McQuarrie, Sandy Batchelor, Piers Ewart, Scot Greenan, and newcomers Charlotte Blackwood, Calum Manchip and Kate Robson-Stuart.
Alexandra Brodski and Eshref Reybrouck direct the series. Half Man is produced by Mam Tor Productions in association with Thistledown Pictures for BBC iPlayer, BBC One, BBC Scotland, and HBO. There’s clearly some heavy material at the centre of this one, and the trailer doesn’t exactly try to soften any of it.
Release Date for the U.S. and Australia
Half Man premieres in the U.S. on HBO and Max on April 23, 2026. In Australia, the series premieres on Stan on April 24, 2026.
