Halle Berry could be joining the cast of upcoming sequel Kingsman 2.
The Academy Award winner has entered negotiations to play the head of the CIA in the film, which will see director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class) return at the helm.
Deadline broke the news regarding Berry’s potential casting, reporting that the actress is currently in talks to join the franchise in a two-picture deal. Fox obviously has big plans if the sequel brings the dough.
Berry could be the second big-name actress joining Kingsman 2. Julianne Moore recently entered the project as the film’s potential villain.
The follow-up is said to take the action from England to the U.S., so it’s possible that the CIA may not be an ally. Perhaps Moore and Berry are both bad? If so, who could be the lead villain?
Kingsman: The Secret Service earned over $414 million worldwide on a production budget of approximately $481 million, a nice pull for an R-rated (U.S. classification) picture. The film also made a star of Taron Egerton, who’s expected to return as lead.
Kingsman 2 is scheduled for U.S. release on June 16, 2017.
