‘Hamilton’ Trailer & Release Date: The Hit Stage Musical is Heading to Disney Plus

Disney Plus

Disney has released the official trailer for Hamilton, the stage musical phenomenon that can be seen from the comfort of your couch when it hits streaming service Disney+ on July 3rd.

Inspired by the 2004 biography written by historian Ron Chernow, Hamilton tells the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton, depicting his life in two acts and imagining how various historical characters influenced his life. The award-winning, hugely popular work made a star of Lin-Manuel Miranda, who was behind the music and lyrics.

For those that weren’t lucky enough to see the show live and in person (I’m one of them), this may be a must-see. This particular show was filmed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June of 2016.

Disney’s official synopsis for Hamilton:

“Hamilton” is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, “Hamilton” has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre—a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education. Filmed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June of 2016, the film transports its audience into the world of the Broadway show in a uniquely intimate way.
