‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Teaser: Adam Sandler Returns to the Green in Netflix Sequel

A festive “Happy New Year” teaser that Netflix has released comes with the first footage of Adam Sandler‘s long-awaited Happy Gilmore sequel. Take a look above.

Fans of the unconventional golf hero are in for a treat as Sandler reprises his role as the fiery, hockey-loving golfer who first swung his way into audiences’ hearts in 1996. The footage finds Sandler back on the green, sporting his signature Timberlands and hockey jersey, taking a big swing and cheering, “Yeah, baby!”

Accompanying the comeback is a cast packed with familiar faces and fresh talent. Returning stars Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald reprise their roles as Virginia Venit and Shooter McGavin, respectively, while Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—better known as Bad Bunny—joins the ensemble. NFL star Travis Kelce also makes an appearance, cheekily acknowledging the moment: “It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore.”

Original fans will be delighted to know that key creatives behind the first film are back in action. Co-writer Tim Herlihy returns to pen the sequel with Sandler, while Happy Gilmore director Dennis Dugan takes on the role of executive producer. Additionally, Kyle Newacheck (Murder Mystery) reunites with Sandler to direct, and producers Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds are also back.

The cast is stacked, with Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutowsky, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, and Phillip Fine Schneider rounding out the roster that Netflix has unveiled. And if you hit the film’s IMDb listing, there are even more big names to add, including Ben Stiller, Benny Safdie, and Margaret Qualley.

Fans have long speculated about where the character’s journey might go after saving his grandmother’s house and proving his mettle on the golf course. Stay tuned as more details surface about Happy Gilmore 2, set to be released on Netflix sometime in 2025.
