New ‘Havoc’ Trailer: Tom Hardy Unleashes Carnage in Netflix Actioner from ‘The Raid’ Director

Tom Hardy is having one hell of a night in the bloody new trailer that’s arrived for Havoc, the long-anticipated Netflix action-thriller from The Raid director Gareth Evans. The film drops Hardy into a spiral of violence and corruption as a lone detective clawing his way through a city on the brink. Take a look above.

Hardy plays Walker, a no-nonsense cop who’s dragged into the criminal underworld after a drug deal implodes and a politician’s estranged son vanishes. As multiple factions close in—including a crime syndicate, crooked officials, and his own department—Walker has no choice but to punch, shoot, and crawl through the city’s rot to survive.

The trailer wastes no time setting the tone. A high-speed chase, shotgun blasts, back-alley brawls, one very unlucky police cruiser taking a washing machine to the windshield. The carnage looks brutal—but that’s par for the course with Evans at the helm. This is the director behind The Raid, Gangs of London, Netflix release The Apostle, and judging by what we’ve seen so far, Havoc is poised to carry on the filmmaker’s kinetic, bone-crunching legacy.

Joining Hardy is a stacked supporting cast that includes Forest Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem, The Last King of Scotland), Timothy Olyphant (Justified, The Mandalorian), Jessie Mei Li (Shadow and Bone), Justin Cornwell (The Umbrella Academy), Luis Guzmán (Wednesday, Traffic), Quelin Sepulveda (Good Omens), Michelle Waterson (UFC), Sunny Pang (The Night Comes for Us), Jim Caesar (Baby Reindeer), Xelia Mendes-Jones (Fallout), and Yeo Yann Yann (American Born Chinese).

Written and directed by Evans, Havoc is produced by Hardy, Ed Talfan, and Aram Tertzakian. It’s Hardy’s first major Netflix feature—and if the film delivers on the promise of this trailer, it could very well be one of the streamer’s biggest action hits this year. Fingers crossed this one rocks.

Havoc hits Netflix globally on April 25.
