Among the big originals headlining month: Task, a new HBO drama from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby, with Mark Ruffalo fronting an FBI unit on the trail of a suburban family man with explosive secrets.

True-crime and docu fans have plenty to dig into, from Most Wanted: Teen Hacker, chronicling Finnish hacker Julius Kivimäki’s notorious exploits, to Ruby & Jodi: A Cult of Sin and Influence, which unpacks the manipulative rise of Jodi Hildebrandt. On the local front, Outback Opal Hunters returns for Season 8, following Aussie miners braving extreme conditions in pursuit of fortune.

It’s also a strong month for films: the Rocky saga rolls out across September, joined by titles like Tomb Raider (2018), RoboCop (2014), and action-comedy duo 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street. Meanwhile, drama arrives with Brian and Maggie, with Steve Coogan and Harriet Walter bringing to life Margaret Thatcher’s infamous TV showdown, and Brilliant Minds Season 2, where Zachary Quinto’s Dr Oliver Wolf faces both medical puzzles and family turmoil.

Directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Sami Kieksi and co-written with Joni Soila, the series follows the illegal exploits of Finnish hacker Julius Kivimäki (now known as Aleksanteri Kivimäki), who rose to infamy after forcing a U.S. passenger plane to make an emergency landing, shutting down PlayStation globally, and orchestrating several dangerous SWAT attacks – including one targeting the family of an FBI agent.
