Sony Pictures has dropped a bloody red band trailer for Heart Eyes, a New Zealand-shot slasher horror film that sharpens its knives for Valentine’s Day. Take a look above.
Directed by Josh Ruben (Scare Me, Werewolves Within), the film takes aim at romance with a genre-bending mix of brutal horror and dark comedy. The plot follows the infamous “Heart Eyes Killer,” a masked murderer who has turned Valentine’s Day into a bloodbath for years, targeting couples in love. This time, two unlucky co-workers—played by Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer) and Mason Gooding (Scream VI)—are mistaken for a couple and end up fighting for their lives during what’s supposed to be the most romantic night of the year.
The film’s cast also includes Gigi Zumbado (Bridge and Tunnel), Michaela Watkins (Casual), Devon Sawa (Chucky), and Jordana Brewster (The Fast and the Furious).
Written by Phillip Murphy, Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day), and Michael Kennedy (Freaky), the project sees Landon pulling double duty as producer alongside Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks. Executive producers include Gary Barber, Chris Stone, Mel Turner, Murphy, and Kennedy.
Heart Eyes hits US cinemas on February 7th.
