A new Hector and the Search for Happiness trailer has been released, providing the best look at the film thus far. Simon Pegg stars as Hector, a psychiatrist who feels as though his life isn’t going anywhere and that his clients aren’t getting any happier. So, he decides to travel around the world in the hope of finding out if happiness truly exists. This feels a hell of a lot like last year’s Ben Stiller-starring The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, with the whole feel-good-globe-trotting-search-to-find-one’s-inner-being thing, but we still think this looks pretty good. It certainly provides Simon Pegg with a chance to show off some more dramatic range, and the supporting cast seems impressive enough. As long as the cheese isn’t laid on too thick, we’ll be giving this a go.
Hector and the Search for Happiness also stars Rosamund Pike, Christopher Plummer, Toni Collette, Stellan Skarsgard, and Jean Reno.
Official synopsis for Hector and the Search for Happiness:
Pegg plays Hector, an eccentric yet irresistible London psychiatrist in crisis: his patients are just not getting any happier! He’s going nowhere. Then one day, armed with buckets of courage and an almost child-like curiosity, Hector breaks out of his sheltered vacuum of a life into a global quest to find out if happiness exists. More importantly, if it exists for Hector. And so begins a colourful, exotic, dangerous and hysterical journey.
