Netflix has lined up an impressive trio for Here Comes the Flood, a heist thriller set to be directed by City of God and The Two Popes filmmaker Fernando Meirelles. Denzel Washington, Robert Pattinson, and Daisy Edgar-Jones are attached to star in the project, which comes from screenwriter Simon Kinberg (Mr. & Mrs. Smith).
Billed as an unconventional entry in the genre, Here Comes the Flood revolves around a bank guard, a teller, and a master thief, all entangled in a deadly web of cons and betrayals. Specifics are still being kept under wraps, though the film is said to unfold in a non-linear fashion.

Netflix originally picked up the script back in 2020 after a competitive bidding war, reportedly landing the deal for seven figures. At one point, Jason Bateman was in talks to direct, but that version never materialised.
The film’s lead cast brings plenty of firepower. Washington, fresh off Gladiator II, is next set to lead Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest, a remake of Kurosawa’s High and Low. Pattinson recently wrapped Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love, is in production on Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and also stars opposite Zendaya in upcoming romance The Drama. Edgar-Jones continues to chart a versatile path following acclaimed series Normal People, with recent credits including last year’s Twisters, On Swift Horses, and upcoming law firm thriller A Place in Hell, opposite Michelle Williams.
As reported on Netflix site Tudum, Kinberg is producing the film alongside Audrey Chon for Genre Films, with Meirelles also serving as producer. Samson Mucke is on board as executive producer.
