Sir Philip Pullman’s trilogy fantasy novels comes to the small screen in upcoming live-action HBO series His Dark Materials.
A big new trailer has arrived for the first season, adapted by screenwriter Jack Thorne (How I Live Now, Skins) and featuring direction from Oscar-winning helmer Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Miserables). The plot follows a young woman (Dafne Keen, Logan) from another world, on the search for a kidnapped friend. Her quest through worlds, including ours, leads her to stolen children, a phenomenon called Dust, and a courageous boy named Will.
Looks like a gorgeous production, and another big HBO outing to look forward to after Game of Thrones wraps (there’s also Watchmen on the way). The impressive cast includes James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson and Lin-Manuel Miranda, among many others. Fingers crossed for this one.
