HBO

The Comic-Con trailer for upcoming series His Dark Materials has been released online.

This BBC One and HBO adaptation of Philip Pullman’s book trilogy of the same name looks like grand production. The first season’s plot Lyra (played by Logan breakout Dafne Keen), a brave young woman from another world who is searching for a kidnapped friend. Her journey leads to a plot involving other stolen kids, as well as a phenomenon called Dust. As the trailer also shows, the cast also includes James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson and Lin-Manuel Miranda, and yes, there’s an armored polar bear.

We’re a long way from The Golden Compass, the 2007 film that was supposed to kick off a film series adaptation of Pullman’s works. High hopes for what’s in store here.

His Dark Materials, written by Jack Thorne (Wonder, upcoming Enora Holmes), will begin on HBO on later this year.
