‘Honey Don’t!’ Trailer: Margaret Qualley Investigates and Chris Evans Gets Unholy in Dark Crime Comedy

Ethan Coen, one half of the Coen brothers duo behind films such as Fargo, No Country for Old Men, and The Big Lebowski, is back with his next solo directorial outing — and it looks gleefully unhinged.

The trailer for Honey Don’t! introduces Margaret Qualley as Honey O’Donahue, a dry-witted small-town private investigator drawn into a string of strange deaths tied to a shady church. Chris Evans seems to be having the time of his life playing the smug, sinister preacher who becomes a prime suspect.

“Do you drink?” Evans’ character asks Honey. “Heavily,” she deadpans. “It’s a point of pride.” Plenty of wry one-liners in what looks like a bloody, absurdist ride.

Also starring Aubrey Plaza, Charlie Day, and Billy Eichner, Honey Don’t! was co-written by Coen and his wife, longtime editor and Drive-Away Dolls co-writer Tricia Cooke. This marks Ethan Coen’s third solo directorial effort following 2024’s Drive-Away Dolls (which also had Qualley in the lead) and 2022 documentary Jerry Lee Lewis: Trouble in Mind.

Honey Don’t will premiere at Cannes this month, ahead of its Australian theatrical release on August 21st and its U.S. release on August 22.
