The award-winning series hit quite the roadblock when allegations against Kevin Spacey came to light. Media Rights Capital and Netflix put House of Cards on hold as it dealt with the Spacey fallout, ultimately deciding to cut all ties with the actor and green-lighting a final season with lead actress Robin Wright. It’s good new for HoC fans, and two new cast members suggest we could be in for one hell of a final chapter.
The streaming giant has today announced that Oscar-nominated actors Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear have been cast in the sixth season, which began production today. No details regarding what roles Lane and Kinnear will take on have been revealed.
It’s a big move casting two big names to help wrap up the show after it was left in limbo, showing Netflix’s strong desire to not only give fans a close, but to give the show’s talent – in front and behind the camera – a chance to complete a project they have put so much work into over the years. Apart from starring, Wright is one of the show’s executive producers and has directed nine episodes.
Among the questions now on the table: How will HoC scribes write out Francis Underwood? Will we get a shorter season? And when will it arrive?
