‘I Am Woman’ Trailer: Helen Reddy Biopic Heading to Aussie Streamer Stan

A new trailer has been released for I Am Woman, a biopic on Australian singer-songwriter Helen Reddy that was lined up for cinemas earlier this year and is now scheduled to be an Original for Aussie streaming service Stan.

Tilda Cobham-Hervey (Hotel Mumbai) stars as Helen Reddy, the Melbournian who, as a single mum with a three-year-old daughter, hit New York in 1966 with a dream. Within just a few years she was one of the biggest superstars of her time and an icon of the 1970s feminist movement; a Grammy-award winning artist responsible for co-writing and singing hit song “I Am Woman”- a song that went on to become the anthem for the women’s movement in the 1970s.

Evan Peters (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Danielle Macdonald (Dumplin’) also star in the Sydney-shot film, directed by Unjoo Moon (known for 2012 documentary Tony Bennett documentary The Zen of Bennett) and written by Emma Jensen (Mary Shelley).

“I am so thrilled that audiences in Australia will finally get to see our film,” Moon said in a statement. “During these tough times it’s deeply meaningful to me that the release of Helen Reddy’s inspirational story I Am Woman will kick off with Stan in Australia. Not only did Helen’s story begin in Australia but so did our journey of making this movie.”

This marks another original film for Stan following the buzzed-about releases of Justin Kurzel’s True History of The Kelly Gang and the just-released horror film Relic. I Am Woman hits Stan on August 28th.
