‘I Am Wrath’ Trailer: John Travolta Goes the Revenge Route

John Travolta goes after his wife’s killers in I Am Wrath, an upcoming revenge thriller that could prove to be a bit of a guilty pleasure.

You’ve heard it all before. Travolta plays Stanley Hill, an engineer who witnesses his wife’s murder and goes after the culprits when corrupt officers fail to bring justice. Cue shootouts, fistfights and an amusingly bad-ass Travolta, complete with one hell of a hair peace.

The VOD market is filled with so-bad-they-just-might-be-fun thrillers, and this Travolta outing has managed to grab our attention. He’s done brooding well in the past, plus this Death Wish-clone looks to be embracing its tropes in giddy fashion. Then again, maybe not.

I Am Wrath, directed by the once-in-demand Chuck Russell (The Mask, Eraser), will be hitting VOD on April 15 and will start a limited theatrical release in the U.S. on May 14.

Synopsis for I Am Wrath:

Unemployed engineer Stanley Hill (Travolta) witnesses the brutal murder of his wife Vivian (Rebecca De Mornay, TV’s Jessica Jones) who was attacked by thugs in a parking garage. When Detective Gibson (Sam Trammell, True Blood) and other corrupt police officers are unable and unwilling to bring the killers to justice, Stanley turns to his old friend Dennis (Christopher Meloni, Man of Steel, TVs Law & Order) and decides to take matters into his own hands. It is only then that Stanley and Dennis are found to have a mysterious past that, until now, they kept very well hidden.

As they wreak their revenge, those involved in the cover up realize that Stanley and Dennis are more dangerous than they could have ever imagined…
