I Smile Back Trailer: Sarah Silverman is Self-Destructive

Sarah Silverman looks to be putting in quite the dramatic performance in I Smile Back, an upcoming drama that sees her play a suburban wife and devoted mother of two on the verge of losing it all.

The trailer below provides a good look at what appears to be a tense and layered character study, with Silverman marking a decidedly different step in her comedic-focused career. We’re intrigued.

I Smile Back, also starring Josh Charles, Thomas Sadoski, Mia Barron, Terry Kinney, and Chris Sarandon, will be hitting the U.S. on October 23.

Synopsis for I Smile Back:

I Smile Back explores the life of Laney (Sarah Silverman), an attractive, intelligent suburban wife and devoted mother of two adorable children. She has the perfect husband (Josh Charles), a pristine house, and a shiny SUV for carting the children to their next activity. However, just beneath the façade lie depression and disillusionment that send her careening into a secret world of reckless compulsion. Only very real danger will force her to face the painful root of her destructiveness and its crumbling effect on those she loves.
