Production is well and truly underway on Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant.
We saw a series of very intriguing set photos released around a week ago, and now we have our first image of Katherine Waterston’s character, Daniels.
The image below, unveiled on the official Alien Anthology Twitter account, sees Waterston resting in a corridor of the titular spaceship, which has clearly seen better days. Let’s assume those pesky Xenomorphs have something to do with this particular set.
The pic certainly brings to mind Alien/s and Prometheus, which saw a lonesome heroine (Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley and Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw respectively) coming face to face with extra terrestrial terror. Although, as we already know, the other main character in Alien: Covenant is Michael Fassbender’s android David. So, assuming this will be a frame from the film and not just Waterston chilling out on set, where could he be at this moment?
Alien: Covenant is believed to be set 10 years after we saw Shaw and David shooting off into the skies at the end of Prometheus. As per the Covenant’s official synopsis, “the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.” No word as to what happened with Elizabeth. We’ll find out.
Alien: Covenant, also starring Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demian Bichir and Jussie Smollett, will arrive in Australia on August 3, 2017 and hit the U.S. on August 4, 2017.
