20th Century Fox has dropped a new TV spot for Independence Day: Resurgence, giving us a little bit more of the big-budget sci-fi sequel.
As you may remember, the first film concluded with Jeff Goldblum’s David Levinson and Will Smith’s Captain Steven Hiller taking down the alien mother ship. Well, humanity’s about to pay the price for that.
“She has arrived.”
The new TV spot offers up a few new tidbits, revealing a little more footage focusing on those pesky extra terrestrials. It turns out that quite a few of those crash-landed aliens were kept for observation, so it’s only natural that Bill Pullman’s former U.S. President go inside an enclosure and get treated accordingly.
The first film was by no means a work of art, but boy was it a fun blockbuster. Here’s hoping the follow-up, which sees disaster aficionado Roland Emmerich (The Day After Tomorrow, 2012) back at the helm, manages to at least match the level of entertainment offered up by the original.
Independence Day: Resurgence, also starring Liam Hemsworth, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward, hits Australia on June 23 and the U.S. on June 24.
