After months and months of whispers, it’s finally been confirmed.

There will indeed be another Indiana Jones film, and Harrison Ford will once again be playing the fictional snake-hating archeologist.

Rumours had suggested that we’d be getting a prequel film. Even Chris Pratt was said to be in Disney’s sights at one point, rumoured to play a young Indiana Jones with Steven Spielberg at the helm.

Well, at least that Spielberg rumour can now be locked in as fact. Spielberg has signed on to direct the film, the fifth in the franchise that started with Spielberg’s Raider’s of the Lost Ark back in 1981.

“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,”  Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios, said in a statement.

“It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

The still-untitled Indiana Jones movie will be hitting U.S. screens on July 19, 2019.
