Insidious raked it in at the box-office and it’s sequel set records in the States during September, so we all know what that means. Focus Features has today announced that next installment of the franchise will arrive on April 3, 2015. Film District was the distributor behind Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2, but they were absorbed by Focus Features last month.
Leigh Whannell, the writer behind Saw and both previous Insidious films, will return to pen the third film. Since regular Whannell collaborator James Wan is busy directing Fast & Furious 7, there isn’t a director attached to the project at this time.
Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity) will be producing the picture.
This doesn’t come as a real surprise. These films are known for having an excellent cost-to-profit ratio, with the first two films proving that people will continue to see them for as long as they’re released. The first film wasn’t too bad, but we weren’t at all impressed by Insidious: Chapter 2. You can find our review for that film right HERE.
