Check out this intense trailer for Blue Ruin, a dramatic-thriller from writer-director Jeremy Saulnier (Murder Party). The film tells the story of a man whose quiet life is turned upside down by some unwelcome news and subsequently sets off for his childhood home to carry out an act of revenge. Proving an improbable assassin, he winds up in a brutal fight to protect his estranged family. It certainly looks gritty and violent, with a confident sense of direction. Jeremy Saulnier won the FIPRESCI prize during the director’s fortnight at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, furthering the fact that this looks quite impressive.
