A new Ghostbusters trailer has been released by Sony Pictures Australia, offering up a bit of new footage and a better look at the role Chris Hemsworth will play.
That first trailer wasn’t well received, and while this one does head in a slightly better direction, we’re not too sure it’s going to help the many, many naysayers warm to the reboot. Gone is the scene with a possessed Melissa McCarthy being slapped by Leslie Jones, inserted is a scene with Jones failing to crowd dive. It’s early still, but the snippets we’ve been given thus far don’t do Jones any favours.
The overall tone here is a little more fun, and Hemsworth’s Kevin looks to provide a welcome addition.
It’s hard to know what to think of this reboot. Paul Feig has a decent track record and the cast is solid, but we haven’t been convinced of a film that warrants a connection to such a classic. Perhaps discarding the Ghostbusters element from the get-go, having Feig and co. simply develop an original supernatural comedy, may have been the way to go. Of course, we’ll be happily surprised if this reboot works out for the best.
Ghostbusters, also starring Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon, hits Australia on July 14 and the U.S. on July 15.
