Danny Rand is returning.
Yes, Iron Fist is getting a second chapter; one that will hopefully give the New York City hero – played by Finn Jones – a bit of a better run than he was afforded in the first season. There are some developments to look forward to though, such as Luke Cage‘s Misty Knight (Simone Missick) and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) teaming up to be the Daughters of the Dragon.
“We’re kind of recalibrating Colleen… We kind of took everything away from Colleen,” Henwick told the crowd during the Iron Fist panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. “We’re trying to figure out who she is without that. You don’t want to make her mad… The most exciting thing for Colleen is the introduction of this thing called Daughters of the Dragon.”
British actress Alice Eve is also on board the next season. She’ll be playing Typhoid Mary, a villain who, in the comics, has low level psionic powers that include telekinesis. The comics also saw the character depicted as Daredevil’s enemy and former lover, so she could be providing further connection to Netflix’s Marvel universe.
And of course, the release date. It’s surprisingly close: Iron Fist season 2 will be hitting Netflix on September 7.
