‘Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ Trailer: What to Know About the Prime Video Film

Prime Video has released the official trailer for Jack Ryan: Ghost War, bringing John Krasinski back into the Ryanverse for a feature-length mission. Watch the trailer above, then read on for what to know about the story, cast, and release.

What to Know About the Story

After stepping away from the CIA and settling into civilian life, Jack Ryan is pulled back in when an international covert operation starts to unravel. From there, things escalate quickly. A deadly conspiracy surfaces, a rogue black-ops unit emerges, and the clock becomes a constant pressure point.

In the trailer, Sienna Miller’s Emma Marlowe, an MI6 officer who looks set to become a key ally, asks, “What do you know about Starling?” The name lands with weight, and not in a good way. Ryan responds: “Do you mean an unsanctioned Black Ops team? Specifically designed for psychological warfare, assassination.”

That threat is given more shape by the return of Wendell Pierce’s James Greer, Ryan’s former CIA boss. “Starling has been resurrected,” Greer warns. “They’re intelligent. They’re dangerous. And they’ll do… exactly what we trained them to do.”

It’s a clean set-up, pointing to a mission that feels both global in scale and tied to unfinished business from the agency’s past.

Who’s Back and Who’s New

Michael Kelly returns as CIA operative Mike November, reuniting with Ryan and Greer for what looks like another rough assignment.

Miller’s Emma Marlowe is the key new addition, and the trailer positions her as more than just support, suggesting a proper partnership with Ryan.

The supporting cast includes Max Beesley, JJ Feild, Douglas Hodge, and Betty Gabriel.

The Series Expands Into Film

With Jack Ryan shifting from episodic television to a full-length feature, Prime Video has handed directing duties to Andrew Bernstein, a filmmaker who has already helmed several episodes of the series. His broader television work includes titles such as Ozark, The Outsider, Fear the Walking Dead, and It: Welcome to Derry.

The script comes from Krasinski and Aaron Rabin, with the story developed by Krasinski alongside Noah Oppenheim. Rabin is hardly a newcomer to the Ryan world either, having already contributed to the series as writer and co-executive producer.

Release Date and Where to Watch

Jack Ryan: Ghost War premieres globally on Prime Video on May 20, 2026.
