Amazon has dropped an action-packed full-length trailer for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, the upcoming series starring John Krasinski.
Krasinski takes on the role previously inhabited by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine in this new series heading to Amazon Prime. We meet a rookie Ryan here, thrust into the field from his job as an up-and-coming CIA analyst.
Amazon’s banking on this slick-looking series to push its streaming service, and they’re certainly confident. Season 1 hasn’t even started, but season 2 has already been ordered. The second chapter will find Ryan confronting the forces in power in a dangerous, declining democratic regime in South America.
Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and Graham Roland (Fringe, Prison Break) created the series for television and serve as showrunners, with Krasinski, director Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), who also directed the pilot, and Michael Bay among the executive producers.
Here’s hoping for a great action-series and another step in the right direction for Krasinski, who’s been expanding his career nicely since his run as Jim Halpert in The Office. He’s also, by the way, following up his directorial hit A Quiet Place with a sci-fi film set on Mars.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, also starring Abbie Cornish and Wendell Pierce, will be hitting Amazon Prime Video on August 31.
