Jared Leto Returning as Joker in ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’

Jared Leto will be back as the Clown Prince of Crime!

That’s right, after playing beloved DC villain the Joker in the David Ayer-directed Suicide Squad back in 2016, and being left quite disappointed with what resulted in just around 7 minutes of screentime, Leto will be playing the character again in the highly anticipated “Snyder Cut” of Justice League.

THR broke the news, reporting that Leto has been brought back for additional scenes being filmed by Snyder. Among the cast that have returned to film new footage: Ben Affleck (Batman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg) and Amber Heard (Mera). There aren’t any details to go on as to what Leto’s Joker will have to do in the new cut. It’s certainly an interesting move, considering the Joker wasn’t in the Joss Whedon-completed Justice League that hit cinemas.

This has fans speculating as to what new plot elements will be introduced in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, as it’s been officially titled. Snyder himself hasn’t been shy about whether or not he’ll be using anything from that previous cut. “There would be no chance on earth that I would use a shot that was made prior, er, after I left the movie,” Snyder said during a live stream back in July. “I’d destroy the movie, I would set it on fire before I would use a single frame that I did not photograph.”

Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be around 4 hours in length and will be released as a 4-episode event series on HBO Max in 2021.
