Jennifer Lopez is set to topline and produce Shades Of Blue, an FBI drama series which has received a 13-episode straight-to-series order from NBC. Deadline is reporting that Lopez will be attached as an executive producer with her American Idol co-star Ryan Seacrest.
Shades of Blue is a “complex police series” that will follow Harlee McCord (Lopez), a single mother and detective recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force. Harlee becomes compromised by her close-knit team — all of whom also pitch in to help her raise her daughter — and finds herself faced with the dilemma of working against her colleagues in order to redeem herself.
Adi Hasak, writer of From Paris with Love and the Kevin Costner-vehicle 3 Days to Kill, is to begin writing scripts in June. The plan is to start production later this year, with an eye towards a 2015-16 season, not the one that starts in September.
“Whether it’s producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we’re delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show,” said NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke.
