“Live or die. The choice is yours.”
That’s right, it appears the game-loving serial killer may be back – or there’s a copycat in town – in the latest chapter in the Saw franchise.
The first trailer has dropped for Jigsaw, which finds new victims at the hands of a killer that all evidence suggests is John Kramer. But seeing as Kramer has been dead for over a decade, how is that even possible? Guess we’ll find out.
The film is directed by German-born Aussie filmmakers Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig, known for Undead, Daybreakers, and Predestination. In a recent interview with EW, Michael teased a “more fun” entry in the macabre film series – a slight tonal change nicely shown off in the new trailer below. Of course, gorno lovers won’t be left wanting.
“We’ve got some pretty wild traps in the film — we don’t shy away from the gore,” he said. “It’s such a perfect Halloween scarefest. It’s perhaps not quite as vicious and more fun, which is something we tried to inject into it. But it’s still full of good fun gore, that’s for sure. And, on top of that, it’s got a really great mystery, and there’s very interesting twists. It’s Saw for 2017.”
Jigsaw, featuring a cast that includes Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen and Callum Keith Rennie, among others, is scheduled to open in the U.S. on October 12 and arrives in Australia on November 2.
Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade.
