Joaquin Phoenix could soon be reuniting with M. Night Shyamalan, the filmmaker that directed him in Signs and The Village.
Deadline is reporting that Phoenix is currently “in negotiations” to star in a film set to begin shooting this November in Philadelphia. There’s no title or word on plot as yet. All that’s known so far is that the film will be going ahead on a small budget.
Jason Blum is attached to produce the picture, which will mark the second consecutive collaboration between the two after the yet-to-be-release horror film The Visit. That one will be getting a U.S. release on September 11 and an Australian release on September 24.
Shyamalan’s career hasn’t managed to pick up since 2006’s Lady in the Water, so here’s hoping The Visit and this third film with Phoenix marks a comeback of sorts.
