‘John Wick 2’: Poster Released, Director Suggests ‘Twice As Much Action’

John Wick: Chapter 2 is on the way.

The first poster for the upcoming sequel has dropped, giving us a look at Keanu Reeves’ titular animal-loving ass-kicker getting his suit measured. One can only imagine that measuring a guy holding a gun wouldn’t be the most calming of situations.

The sequel will offer more of the mysterious assassins’ guild that was hinted at in the first film, with Wick forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of the shadowy organisation. Bound by a blood oath to help him, Wick heads to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.

And being a sequel, it’s only natural to expect a more-is-better approach when it comes to the action. Enter Chad Stahelski, the first film’s co-director and the standalone director of this sequel, who suggests we’re in for plenty of slick mayhem for Chapter 2.

“I would say we had twice as much action as the first movie,” Stahelski told EW. “We took it all a full notch up as far as the driving car stuff went. A great portion of the car chase in the opening of the film is Keanu, which is very impressive.”

Kicking off the sequel with a big char chase? Yes please.

Joining Reeves in the action sequel is Ruby Rose, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, John Leguizamo and Common, the latter of which is poised to play the villainous “head of security for a female crime lord.” Fishburne is on board as a mysterious character called The Bowery King.

John Wick: Chapter 2 is scheduled for U.S. release on February 10, 2017.
