Arthur, now institutionalised at Arkham Asylum, awaits trial for his notorious crimes as the Joker in the first film. Amidst the turmoil of grappling with his dual identity, Arthur discovers true love and unlocks the music that has always resided within him.
Lady Gaga takes on the role of Harleen Quinzel, famously known as Harley Quinn from DC Comics. The trailer hints at a complex relationship between Harleen and Arthur, suggesting they might be perfect for each other or the worst possible match, fuelling each other’s descent into madness.
Director Todd Phillips returns to helm the sequel, once again collaborating with Scott Silver (8 Mile, The Fighter) on the screenplay. The film’s ensemble cast boasts notable talents such as Steve Coogan, Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey. Zazie Beetz also reprises her role as Sophie Dumond, the neighbour who captivated Arthur’s interest in the original film.
Joker: Folie À Deux is set to hit Australia on October 3rd and the US on October 4th.
