Jonah Hill No Longer Circling Villain Role in ‘The Batman’

Well, that didn’t last too long.

Oscar-nominated actor Jonah Hill was recently reportedly circling the role of a villain in the highly-anticipated DC movie The Batman. Word was even spreading that he was going to be taking on the part of The Riddler. Well, scrap all that.

Hill is no longer circling a role in the film. According to Deadline, talks have broken down between Hill and Warner Bros., who are now already “eyeing new candidates” for either Riddler or Penguin. No reason for Hill’s departure is being reported.

Interestingly, Deadline also reports that Seth Rogen, who Hill has worked with a number of times, was at one point being considered for the Penguin but no talks or offers came from that.

Robert Pattinson will be playing the titular hero in The Batman, which will also star Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. Directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, War for the Planet of the Apes), The Batman is scheduled to arrive in Australia on June 24 and will open in US cinemas on June 25, 2021.
