The second lead role has been filled in Battle Creek, the upcoming detective series from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and House M.D. creator David Shore.
CBS has placed a straight-to-series order for Battle Creek, which will tell the story of Russ Agnew (Dean Winters), a tough-as-nails detective who teams up with the decidedly different FBI agent Milton Chamberlain, to be played by Josh Duhamel (Transformers, TV’s Las Vegas), in order to clean up the streets of Battle Creek. “Together, they must answer the question: is cynicism, guile and deception enough to clean up the semi-mean streets of Battle Creek, Michigan, in the face of a lack of resources, or will naiveté and trust get the job done?”
Deadline reports that Duhamel’s Milton will be the straight-cop; “a sincere, humble, even naive guy who heads from Detroit to Battle Creek to set up a satellite FBI office.”
It’s certainly a high-profile series, with director Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men) recently hired to helm the pilot episode.
The series, which is to have Vince Gilligan as an executive producer and David Shore as its day-to-day show runner, will also star Kal Penn, Janet McTeer, Edward Fordham Jr. and Aubrey Dollar.
