Jennifer Lawrence and writer-director David O. Russell reunite for the third time in Joy, a biopic focusing on successful entrepreneur and Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano.
The film will the tell the story of Joy’s life; the betrayal, treachery, and the emotional turbulence that helped form a woman determined to let her spirit carry her through.
The first trailer is downright brilliant, showing off just enough footage to drive home what looks to be one hell of a journey and another strong performance by Lawrence. Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle showed that Lawrence and O. Russell were quite the formidable team, and this could very well be another slam dunk. We can’t wait.
Joy, also starring Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Isabella Rossellini, and Elisabeth Röhm, is set for U.S. release on Christmas Day and will be arriving in Australian cinemas on January 7, 2016.
