Academy Award winner Julianne Moore could be playing the lead villain in Kingsman 2.
The actress has entered talks to take on the role of the antagonist in the sequel, which will see director Matthew Vaughn back at the helm and Taron Egerton back in the lead.
No details regarding this villainous role have been revealed, although word is that the follow-up will take the action from England to the States.
THR is also reporting that Colin Firth, who played suave secret agent Harry Hart in the first film, will not be returning for another round. As many know, Kingsman: The Secret Service (spoilers), in a somewhat surprising turn of events, saw Hart bite the dust at the hands of villain Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson). Vaughn and co. considered finding a way to ensure Firth was brought back, with ideas including flashbacks and even the introduction of an identical twin brother, but that was eventually dropped.
Moore, who was recently seen playing President Alma Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, has a few potential projects on the horizon that may provide a few scheduling issues. The actress has signed up to star in Wonderstruck, the next drama from director Todd Haynes (Carol), and Suburbicon, a George Clooney-directed comedic crime-mystery penned by the Coen brothers.
Fox is looking at starting production on Kingsman 2 in May with a plan to open in the U.S. on June 16, 2017.
