Sony Pictures

Take a look at the first trailer released for Jumanji: The Next Level, the sequel – or threequel, counting the Robin Williams-starring original – that brings back Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan, with Danny DeVito and Danny Glover on board as new players – literally.

The young players return to Jumanji to rescue Spencer (Nick Wolff), only this time, the avatar allocations are a little different. We’ll leave the craziness for you to check out below. It looks fun!

They’ve moved onto this sequel quite quickly from Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which is no surprise when you look at that film’s earnings. The 2017 family adventure earned a huge $US962.1 million worldwide from a budget of around $US90 million. Franchise guaranteed.

Director Jake Kasdan is back at the helm here, directing from a script by returning scribes Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Jumanji: The Next Level, also starring Rhys Darby, Awkwafina, Madison Iseman, Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, and Morgan Turner, will be hitting US cinemas on December 13 and arriving in Australia on Boxing Day.

Official synopsis for Jumanji: The Next Level:

In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
