Life… has found a way to bring back three original Jurassic Park leads to the franchise.
Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are joining Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the next installment of the dinosaur franchise, Jurassic World 3. Deadline broke the news, although no plot details regarding how their characters will be brought back were revealed.
Neill and Dern reprised their roles as Dr. Alan Grant and Ellie in Jurassic Park III. Goldblum starred in The Lost World: Jurassic Park and had a very small part towards the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, reprising his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in a scene that had him addressing the U.S. Senate and declaring that people and dinos would have to exist in a Neo-Jurassic Age. Considering the character was included in much of that film’s marketing, it was a little frustrating to have him in what was essentially a cameo.
Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow will be at the helm of Jurassic World 3, which he has co-written with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising). The film is heading into production in early 2020 with an Australian release planned for June 10, 2021. In the US, the film will open on June 11, 2021.
The ending of Fallen Kingdom left the wider world in for a bit of a change after dinosaurs broke free and made their way into the wild. A taste of what that can mean for a group of campers was offered in an impressive Trevorrow-directed short film that was released this month.
