‘Justice League Dark: Apokolips War’ Trailer: DC Heroes Face Darkseid in R-rated Animated Movie

Warner Bros. Entertainment

Check out the trailer that Warner Bros. has released for Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, an upcoming DC animated movie that culminates the six-year animated journey that began with the release of Justice League War in 2014.

The Earth is now decimated after a poor attempt by the League to take down intergalactic tyrant Darkseid. One last shot, then? The remaining heroes – including those from Justice league, Teen Titans, Suicide Squad and others – take the war to Darkseid.

As with a number of DC’s animated features, there are many characters on display here. Sometimes the line-up is handled well, and sometimes it’s a bit of a mess. Let’s have our fingers crossed this potentially very exciting epic juggles all its players and climactic narrative well. Oh, and it’s rated R in the U.S., so that could be of appeal if you’ve enjoyed some of the grittier stuff that the higher ratings have allowed for in recent DC animation.

There’s a massive voice cast, including Matt Ryan as Constantine, Jerry O’Connell as Superman, Taissa Farmiga as Raven, and an array of returning DC voices such as Jason O’Mara as Batman, Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Shemar Moore as Cyborg and Christopher Gorham as The Flash. Darkseid is voiced by Tony Todd (Candyman), who’s voiced the character a number of times before.

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War has its digital release on May 5 (today!), and in the U.S. has its 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack release on May 19.
