In the video interview you can watch above, we chat with celebrated Australian director Paul Goldman, known for his work on Australian Rules, Suburban Mayhem, and Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story. Paul talks to us about his latest film, KID SNOW, a drama set in the stunning landscapes of the Western Australian outback during the 1970s.
Kid Snow follows a washed-up Irish fighter, played by Billy Howle, who’s part of a raucous travelling tent-boxing show. He’s offered a chance at redemption with a rematch against the man he fought a decade ago, a fight that could help him move past a tragedy that’s haunted him. But when a spirited single mother, Sunny, played by Phoebe Tonkin, enters his life, he begins to envision a future beyond the only life he’s known.
During our conversation, Paul delves into the film’s production process, from battling unpredictable weather to working with a talented cast that includes Tom Bateman. He also shares his thoughts on the challenges of attracting Australian audiences to homegrown cinema, a topic that remains a pressing concern for filmmakers across the country.
Kid Snow is in Australian cinemas from September 12th.
