A bloody new trailer has dropped for Sony’s upcoming Marvel film, Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Watch the trailer above and take a look at a new poster below.
The decidedly violent film-looking delves into the origin story of one of Marvel’s most iconic villains (no doubt he’ll be in more antihero territory here). It explores how Kraven’s tumultuous relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (played by Russell Crowe), sets him on a vengeful path and on a journey to become the world’s greatest hunter – and one of its most feared.
The cast includes Christopher Abbott as the Foreigner; Ariana DeBose as Calypso, a voodoo priestess and Kraven’s love interest; Fred Hechinger as Dmitri Smerdyakov / Chameleon, Kraven’s half-brother and a master of disguise; and Alessandro Nivola as Aleksei Sytsevich / Rhino.
The film is directed by J.C. Chandor, going a bit of a different direction following films such as Margin Call, A Most Violent Year, and Triple Frontier. The screenplay was penned by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Uncharted) and Richard Wenk (The Equalizer, The Expendables 2).
After various delays, Kraven the Hunter, the sixth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), will open in Australian cinemas on December 12th and US cinemas on December 13th.
