A tense, action-packed final trailer has arrived for Lioness season 3, ahead of the hit espionage thriller’s August return. Zoe Saldaña is back as Joe McNamara, with Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Kelly also returning for another dangerous chapter from creator Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, Landman). Watch the trailer above and read on for what to know.
The Lioness Season 3 Trailer Takes the Fight to Joe’s Doorstep
Joe’s work has never been safe, but keeping it away from her family is becoming impossible. The footage reveals a new threat targeting CIA personnel, with shadowy operatives closing in on her private life. One attack unfolds directly outside her home, where she takes down an assailant as her visibly shaken husband, Neal (Dave Annable), watches nearby.
More on Screen Realm:
It is a brief but telling moment. Joe may be trained to react when the bullets start flying, but Neal is forced to see exactly what her life looks like when there is no secure facility, distant battlefield or classified briefing standing between the danger and their family.
“Yes, I’ve taken lives for this way of life,” Joe tells her daughter Kate. “And I may lose mine yet. That’s how much I love you.”
From there, the footage unleashes plenty of bullets and bodies as the mayhem escalates. Whatever the Lioness program is facing, it appears to be organised, deeply embedded and already several steps ahead.
“This isn’t the end of a fight,” Kaitlyn (Kidman) warns. “This is the start of one.”
Saldaña Tackles a “Very Demanding” Season

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Saldaña said she had discussed the season’s direction with Sheridan and was pleased with where he ultimately took Joe’s story.
“I had various conversations with Taylor in terms of where he was gonna take it, and I really am so happy and proud of the direction that he eventually took,” she said. “It was very demanding, I’m not gonna lie. And I didn’t even know if I was gonna be able to pull it off.”
Saldaña also pointed to the show’s combination of large-scale action and complicated personal relationships as one of its greatest strengths.
“What I love the most about the show is that it strikes a rare balance between high-octane action and genuine emotional depth,” she said. “I don’t think I would be able to be a part of a show that would only be action without having these intersectional relationships with these incredibly complex women.”
