We’re going to be getting a very different Daniel Craig in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming heist flick Logan Lucky.
In a clip Bleecker Street has released from the film, the Bond actor weighs up the pros and cons of a robbery being pitched to him by brothers Jimmy (Channing Tatum) and Clyde Logan (Adam Driver). You see, in an effort to reverse a family curse, the brothers want to pull of a heist during the Coca-Cola 600 race.
Soderbergh, of course, has plenty of experience in the heist genre, having directed Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen. His first feature in four years looks like it could be a good bit of fun, especially with Craig playing so against type. Fingers crossed.
Logan Lucky, also starring Riley Keough, Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane, Katie Holmes, Katherine Waterston, Dwight Yoakam, Sebastian Stan, David Denman, Macon Blair, Jack Quaid, and Brian Gleeson, will arrive in Australia on August 17 and hits US cinemas on August 18.
Official synopsis for Logan Lucky:
Trying to reverse a family curse, brothers Jimmy (Channing Tatum) and Clyde Logan (Adam Driver) set out to execute an elaborate robbery during the legendary Coca-Cola 600 race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The production shot at Charlotte Motor Speedway during the actual NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 and the Bank of America 500, as well as at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In a fun twist, six NASCAR stars pop up in non-driver cameo roles in the film.
