Owen Wilson is becoming a part of the Marvel universe!
The actor has been cast in Loki, one of the Marvel shows heading to streaming service Disney+. ComicBook.com first reported the news, which was then confirmed by Deadline. There aren’t any details regarding who exactly Wilson will be playing, although a number of outlets are reporting that it will be a major role in the series.
The six-episode Disney+ show will be following Thor’s trickster of a brother after he escaped New York City in 2012, which we saw play out in Avengers: Endgame. Tom Hiddleston will be reprising the role.
It’s going to be interesting to see what unfolds, considering the show will be tying in with Marvel’s 2021 sequel, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. That film, by the way, still doesn’t have a director announced following Scott Derrickson’s exit.
The Kevin Feige-exec produced series has been written by Michael Waldron, who’s had producing/writing credits on hit animated series Rick & Morty. Directing all six episodes is Kate Herron, who helmed four episodes of Sex Education‘s first season and one episode of Daybreak.
Loki is currently filming. It’s expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2021.
