The trailer for the upcoming action-comedy Love Hurts has been released, offering a first look at Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Loki) in his first major leading role. Take a look above.
The film follows Marvin Gable (Quan), a suburban realtor with a dark past he’s desperate to leave behind. His attempt to live a quiet life is shattered when he receives an unexpected message from Rose, played by fellow Oscar winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story, Argylle), a former partner-in-crime who has come back seeking revenge. Daniel Wu (Tomb Raider, Warcraft) co-stars as Marvin’s brother Knuckles, a crime lord now hunting him down.
The film also features Marshawn Lynch (Bottoms), Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage), Lio Tipton (Crazy, Stupid, Love.), Rhys Darby (Jumanji: The Next Level), AndrĂ© Eriksen (Violent Night), and Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings) – the latter of whom starred with Quan as kids in 1985’s The Goonies.
The is the directorial debut for veteran stunt coordinator JoJo Eusebio, whose many stunt and fight coordinator credits include John Wick, Black Panther and Deadpool 2. The screenplay comes from Matthew Murray, Josh Stoddard (Warrior series), and Luke Passmore (Archenemy), with Kelly McCormick and David Leitch producing, alongside Guy Danella. Ben Ormand serves as executive producer. The film is produced by 87North, the company behind popular action titles such as Nobody, Bullet Train, and Atomic Blonde.
Love Hurts is scheduled to be released in Australian cinemas on February 6th and US cinemas on February 7th, 2025.
