The trailer has arrived for upcoming Disney•Pixar adventure Luca.
It’s another culture-focused CG-animated feature for the studio giants. This time, we’re heading to Italy in a story about two young boys – Luca Paguro (voiced by Jacob Tremblay, Room) and Alberto Scorfano (Jack Dylan Grazer, Shazam!) – experiencing a joyous summer in an Italian town. There’s one major thing threatening to cut their good time short: they are both sea monsters from another world that’s hidden just below the water’s surface.
This gorgeous-looking film is the feature directorial debut of Italian Pixar member Enrico Casarosa, who earned an Academy Award nomination for his 2011 animated short La Luna and has worked as an artist on a number of animated films (Ice Age, Ratatouille, Up, Coco). The screenplay comes from Me and Earl and the Dying Girl author/screenwriter Jesse Andrews and Mike Jones, who’s one of the three writers of Disney•Pixar’s Soul.
Luca, also featuring voice work from Emma Burman, Maya Rudolph, Marco Barricelli, and Jim Gaffigan, will be released in Australia on June 17th and in the US on June 18th. Take a look at the trailer below and scroll down for images and the film’s first poster.
