Lucifer was killed, resurrected, and now has the opportunity to say goodbye the way the writers would prefer.
Netflix saved the fantasy-drama series after Fox cancelled the series with season 3, leading to a #SaveLucifer campaign that proved successful. The fanbase was loud enough that Netflix swooped in with a season 4 order – and now it’s getting one more to finish off.
“We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms,” co-showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich said in a statement. “Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!”
Lead actor Tom Ellis shared his very excited reaction:

“It’s beautifully overwhelming to know how much love there is for #lucifer out there…thank you to everyone for your congratulations on the announcement of our final season,” Ellis added in another tweet. “It’s bittersweet for us too but all good things must come to an end…always leave them wanting more!”
Said actor Kevin Alejandro, who plays Dan Espinoza: “It’s bittersweet but I am so grateful to get to have one final season with my absolute favorite cast. I love you people. Thank you to our beautiful fans for routing for us and Thank You @netflix for giving us the opportunity to end it our way. We are truly blessed!”
