Mike Colter reprises his role as Cage, who we were introduced to in Jessica Jones season 1, in what looks to be a seriously awesome Harlem-set outing. The series catches up with Cage as he attempts to rebuild his life, but it isn’t long before he’s forced to come out of the shadows and take on a dangerous villain, Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali).
The new trailer gives up a heap of great footage, offering a look at Cage’s origin story and Stokes’ bad-guy antics. The tone is decidedly fun, which marks quite a difference from the darker tones offered up in Daredevil and Jessica Jones. We can’t wait.
Luke Cage, also starring Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick , Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley, and Rosario Dawson, hits Netflix on September 30.
